Sustainability

The Oracle is a Hammerson-operated shopping centre. As a business, we aim to create retail destinations that deliver net positive impacts economically, socially and environmentally, through leading-edge design, operational efficiency and a culture of respect and responsibility. By 2030 we will be a Net Positive company for carbon, resource use, water and socio-economic impacts.

At The Oracle we are working with Hammerson to reduce our environmental impact. 

Energy saving

The electric vehicle charging points produced: 120.60kWh of energy. 67.54kg of co2 was saved. The energy produced was enough for 40 electric vehicle miles to be driven.

Water consumption

The water consumption in 2019 was 12,021 m3, the savings were 20,325m3, which is equivalent to taking 406,500 showers.

Recycling We recycling 97% of our waste in 2019. 1,451 tonnes were recycled which is the equivalent weight of 97 city buses.

Our key projects in 2020 include:  * Improving quantity and quality of biodiversity on site by installing pollinator friendly planting and Insect Hotels * Working with local schools to discuss employment and skills * Maintaining our high recycling rate.
