Reading Duck Race Returns

On Saturday 13th September 2025, the Kennet and Avon canal will be filled with bright yellow ducks racing from Bridge Street to Queens Car Park. Organised by the Rotary Club of Reading Abbey, this much-loved event brings the community together right here at The Oracle Riverside.

Family Fun by the Riverside The fun begins from 10am in the pedestrian area with face painting and ticket sales. At 4:30pm, cheer on hundreds of ducks as they race to the finish line along the river.

Prizes to be Won The winning duck scoops a £200 prize, with more fantastic bundles donated by The Oracle’s shops for ducks placing 2nd–9th. Every entry supports local charities chosen by the Rotary Club of Reading Abbey.

How it Works Rent your duck online in advance, or pick one up from the Rotary Club stalls at The Oracle on the two weekends before the race, and on the day itself. Ducks from the stalls can be hand-picked, while online ducks are randomly assigned. Every duck has a unique number, and if your duck wins, you’ll be contacted by phone to collect your prize.

Supporting Local Charities Every duck rented helps make a real difference. Last year, donations supported organisations including Reading Family Aid, OPAC, Prostate Cancer Testing, Homestart, Mind in Berkshire, Reading Canoe Club, Dingley’s Promise, Daisy’s Dream, New Beginnings, ABC to Read, Autism Berkshire, Duchess of Kent Hospice, Greenshoots, Hope Counselling, and World Groove – Community Music.
