About

The Reading Family Fringe brings both local and national talent to takeover The Oracle Riverside, with an exciting mix of workshops and performances for different ages.

Visitors are encouraged to make some art, watch some theatre, listen to some music.

All events are free but audience members and participants will need to book tickets for certain workshops and performances to guarantee a space.

Family programme curated by Laurence Alliston-Greiner is detailed below. Laurence is a #madeinRdg artist and theatre maker, creating work for young and adult audiences in collaboration with other artists, including nationally renowned Half Moon Productions. He is excited to showcase local and national talent at the first Oracle Family Fringe Day.

Art installation - Kev Munday - UPlift
British artist Kev Munday creates positive, vibrant artwork inspired by people-watching and the everyday. Exaggerating and celebrating the ordinary, Kev's art appeals to all ages, making the viewer think and smile at the same time. His work takes inspiration from artforms as diverse as kawaii graphics and Huichol yarn paintings.

During the festival, Kev will create UPlift, a bespoke art installation in the Riverside Car Park lift. Visitors are encouraged to visit the site on the Wednesday to be treated to a bevy of performances from local musicians. However, the installation will run for the whole festival.

Acts in The Riverside Car Park include:

- John Madejski Academy Takeover
- Jolly Pops - Meet and greet with two of our favourite Princesses and sing some songs
- Balloon Modelling - fun for all the family, from swords to flowers there is something for everyone to take home!
- One Eye Open - A brilliant band all the way from our Twin City Dusseldorf
